Tell us about RealWaysToEarnMoneyOnline.com.
My website is about legitimate work from home. I do almost daily job leads, company reviews, and I have a directory of companies that frequently hire for work at home.
When did you start your blog?
June of 2010.
How many hours a week do you spend on your site?
I probably spend 20 to 30 hours per week working on my blog.
Average monthly profit?
About $2300.
Average monthly visitors?
130,000.
How do you grow your visitors?
- I ran a few giveaways in the beginning for Amazon gift cards and submitted those to some of the major sweepstakes directories, like online-sweepstakes.com, so people would actually come and enter. That got me a few regular readers the first several months.
- I also created social media accounts that tied in with my site very early on and worked hard to promote those and get people to follow me.
- Another thing that helped was networking with other bloggers in my niche. We commented on and shared each others posts across our social media accounts. That benefited everyone. I learned that it’s not at all a bad idea to make friends with your competition because they can help carry you far.
- I also think posting very consistently helped me. The search engines like sites that always have new content.
How long did it take to have your 1st $1000. month?
It took two years to get the first $1,000 per month.
How do you monetize your blog?
I monetize my blog through ad and affiliate networks primarily, with the very occasional sponsored post.
Share one thing you would do differently,
or one piece of advice if you were starting your blog today.
One thing I would do differently is not worry so much about search engine optimization. I did that in the beginning and it made writing feel more like a chore than something fun to do.
I’ve been writing naturally for about two years now, and if anything my blog has grown more than it did when I worried about keywords and all that stuff.
