Here is a Basic SEO Guide so you can create your WordPress posts to be found by the search engines. This is called “organic traffic” where people will find you when they are searching for a word or phrase (called keywords) when they are looking for information online.
You want them to find your Blog!
So, watch the video (by GOOGLE!) below. She goes over the basic SEO and SEO keyword research.
Basic SEO Guide Tips
This video is put out by Google!
Entire video is ten minutes but in my opinion, the important part starts at 3:30 to the end. Pay close attention to 5:45 min because this is where she explains on-page SEO.
Each Page/Post Should Include:
Unique topic
Unique title (displays in search results)
Unique meta description
Descriptive anchor text for every link
Graphics or Images used should have keywords used in file name & “alt” text
Extra SEO Tip: Occasionally bold and italic your keywords in your post for more SEO juice.
Basic SEO – OnPage
If you haven’t installed the “All in One SEO” WordPress plugin, please do that now. Go on.. I’ll wait. 🙂
OK, now that you’ve done that, whenever you create a post or a page, you’ll have a title, description and keywords to fill out below the spot where you write. It’s crucial you do this if you ever hope to be found by the search engines!
Title
Use 75 Max Characters
Include your exact keyword early in the Title. Plus make the Title enticing to potential visitors so they’ll want to read what you have to say.
Descriptions
Use 150 Max Characters
Again, use exact keyword early on and write a description that will draw the reader in so they want more. Add a variation or second keyword in the description.
Keywords
Put exact keyword here followed by a comma and your secondary keyword.
Tags
Copy/paste your keywords and put them in the right side for “Tags” and hit the “Add” button.
